deserted places

ok - i have been a little addicted to looking at this website..

it all started when i found photo's of the abandoned 'stars wars' film sets
from the late 70's.
pretty cool !

then that turned into looking at old spooky abandoned houses, creepy dead malls, and
decaying cities!!
so weird to think that there are decaying buildings and abandoned cities around the world!!

Here comes the sun

Random photos this week. As i'm still posting from my phone!
I have started a wee part time retail job. It's a job I had years ago! Now I'm the oldest working there amongst the younguns! Haha!
Aw well - I do feel lucky, there isn't many jobs out there at the moment.
We had a sales training the other night and I enjoyed a walk through the city in the dark! It dosn't happen often!

I have been enjoying this glorious pre spring weather! Have actually been able to sit out the back of our house for afternoon tea! Lovely!

Feels a bit lonely now the Rugrat Prince is back at kindy! I was just getting into the swing of thinking up new daily activities!
How was your school holidays?

magick in the dark

a friend of mine and myself took our boys to
LIGHT NELSON on sunday night.
it was magick!
local artists were invited to take part and make a light sculpture.
we saw pixie towns, a massive lotus flower, huge lit barrels,
glow in the dark space creatures, walked through a rainbow, a shadow puppet show,
floating sculptures, projections on bodies - and so much more!
16,000 locals filled Queens gardens on Sunday eve! It was hard to navigate our blanket laden prams around!
So great to see it succeed though!
It only ran for 3 nights, it was a free event and it's school holidays!
It really felt the community was reclaiming the gardens - as some not-so-nice-things have happened in the gardens in the recent past.
i wish i had taken my camera! but looking after the kids in a huge crowd was hard enough!
more pictures here .
i hope they run the event again.

Winter Wonderland

In Nelson, my Winter Wonderland is the beach.
I don't really enjoy the beach in summer, too hot,.too gritty, it makes me feel grumpy.  I much prefer to hang out by lush rivers.
Anywho, the beach in Winter is much different, I love rugging up and beachcombing.
Although there are no waves at Nelson's main beach,Tahuna, it's pretty magic on a sunny winters day.

Also the Rugrat Prince had his birthday and I made a Pirate Ship cake! I think it turned out ok!
